SHRM is a national organization with professional and student chapters located throughout the country. Because of this, there is a chapter with local professionals anywhere you may work in the future, and it is easy to get involved! If you are interested in pursuing a career in HR after college, your involvement in OU SHRM will not only differentiate you from other early career candidates, but it will also better prepare you for a role in HR.
We have SHRM student chapter meetings every Monday night at 7 PM in Copeland Hall 118 that are designed to help you develop your knowledge and experiences in the HR field. The layout of the meetings are topic based so one week we will do an activity based on a specific area of HR and the following week, we will have a speaker talk about that topic! This ensures that students get to apply the knowledge learned but also, hear from professionals about how they incorporate the topic in their career.
The final and most exciting thing we do is a Networking Trip every spring semester! To learn more about these trips, click Networking Trips.
OU SHRM meetings and events are open to all students regardless of major.
Below are examples of speakers and activities that we do throughout the semester!
• Owens Corning
• Difficult Conversations
